Progress Has Been Made!

When we sold our old house the buyers wanted our bedroom furniture, which I was stoked about because I wanted to try a different style in this house anyway. Fast forward to move in day and I STILL hadn't found a bed I liked. I had the dresser and the nightstands but couldn't find exactly what I wanted (in my budget!). I even ordered two separate beds and then cancelled the orders because I changed my mind. So for the past month our room looked like this....

Mattress on the floor looking like a newlywed apartment. I ended up finding this bed on Target.com and while I liked it, I didn't love it, but I was so tired of sleeping on a mattress on the floor that I said screw it and ordered it.

I even created this mood board and started to really fall for the idea

It was supposed to arrive on Sept 23-the day after we got back from vacation-and I followed the tracking up until the 21st when it stopped moving. I knew with COVID things were taking longer but after a WEEK with no movement I contacted Target. They said it was lost and all they could do was refund or replace and a replacement wouldn't arrive 'til October 8 (if it didn't get lost too!). Initially I decided to replace but after thinking it over I cancelled it and bought a cheap platform frame from Amazon until I could really figure out what I wanted.

A couple days later I get an alert that a package arrived on my doorstep and lo and behold-it was the Target bed! I thought about returning it (due to my other order having been placed and wanting to find something I LOVED) but when I opened it to take a peek I fell so hard. The color was prettier in person and I just had to have it. My friend helped me put it together and once I saw it all in the space I knew it was the right one.

Here's how our room looks today...

Down the road we want to change the light fixture and possibly add some picture frame molding (New Orleans style!) to the large wall on the left, but for now we are so happy to be off the floor and in a more sophisticated room.

One Week In

Welcome to our new home!

We have been working so hard on the house, we've added curtains to all the windows and frosted the bathroom windows for privacy. All of our furniture is in and I've started decorating slowly. I love that the white walls let the art and decor shine. We are still waiting for our fence (pickets delayed due to COVID), and our blinds, our pergola just arrived and I cant wait to get it set up so we can sit out and enjoy these warm summer nights before they're over. Stay tuned for more updates coming soon.

New House First Walk Through

Ready to see the new house? We are so ready to show you! This baby was a labor of love that took 4 months to build. It was the longest four months ever but it came together beautifully.

The Exterior: We plan to add wood corbels in the roof peaks, carriage hardware on the garage doors (might paint the doors to match the trim eventually too), shutters and a wood window box to that front window and finally, landscape.

The Entryway: I will eventually add wainscoting but for now I just want to add a mirror and console table, rug and new lighting. We will be changing all the hardware to black down the line too.

The Kitchen, Dining and Living: Again, new lighting and hardware and blinds and curtains. Down the line we want to build a floor to ceiling fireplace in the living room but otherwise, this room will be changed the most with furniture and accessories.

The Laundry Room: I want to add a wood shelf above the washer/dryer and maybe some trim on the walls. Keeping it simple.

The Master Bedroom: I fell in love with the high ceilings in this room and would someday love to have a huge wood beam in the peak. I'm thinking of maybe painting this room a grey/sage color and adding some trim or wainscoting to the walls. Again, hardware and lighting will be changed.

The Master Bath: I kept the design simple in here to allow the decor to shine. I want to add some hardware to the cabinets, frame the mirror in wood, change the lights and add blinds and lighting over the tub. I'm not a fan of basic builder towel bars so Ill be removing them and adding wood hooks instead.

The Office: This is the front bedroom (the window seen from the front of the house) and I love the mountain view it has so I stole it as my office. On the right side we are going to add pre-fab cabinets to create a built in desk. The lighting will get changed along with the hardware and we will add blinds and curtains.

The Guest Bath: We will be framing the mirror in wood, changing the light, adding hardware and then accessories.

The Guest Room: Not sure how I didn't snag a picture before we moved in but its the same as everything else. Changing lighting and hardware, adding blinds and curtains and possibly and accent wall down the line.

I cant wait to show you what it looks like now. Just adding furniture and unpacking some decor has made a huge impact already. Til next time!
