Garage Makeover: Part 1

Disclaimer:This makeover is going to be three parts: the right side, the floors and the left side. We want to break it down into three parts so we don't feel overwhelmed and because we really don't have the time to do it all at once, so stay tuned for parts 2 and 3.

You're probably sitting there reading this thinking, a garage makeover?, and for some it probably won't be the most exciting thing, but for us, the garage is a huge part of our home and we spend quite a bit of time in there working on projects so we really want this space to be organized and functional, which, in its current state, was just not working, hence the need for a makeover.....

The first thing we needed was a work bench. We wanted a place to work on smaller projects, make cuts with the miter saw and store the table saw when not in use. We measured the space so that the table would fit perfectly from the door molding to the wall and tall enough to slide the TS underneath, it ended up being 75.5"Lx32"Wx41"H. Zack built this work bench buy nailing 2x6's into a rectangle with 2 legs [4x4's] on the front and then nailed into the studs with a piece of plywood on top.

After that, we built a frame that looked like this out of 2x3's [we measured it to be the exact height of the door frame molding] ...

We then screwed a peg board from Lowes onto the frame and started to organize. We bought this kit full of different kinds of pegs and put our most used tools up there....

Zack is really proud of how it turned out. We had to wing it since we haven't ever done anything like this before but it really ended up being awesome and we are really happy with the functionality.
